Lankaramaya

Lankaramaya is a historic Buddhist stupa located in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It was built by King Valagamba (also known as Vattagamani Abhaya) in the 1st century BCE as part of the Anuradhapura Kingdom's sacred sites. The stupa is part of the ancient monastic complex known as the Abhayagiri Vihara and is believed to have housed important Buddhist relics.

Lankaramaya has a classic bell-shaped dagoba design, with a circular terrace surrounded by stone pillars that likely supported a structure in ancient times. Though the original structure has undergone several renovations, it remains an important religious site where Buddhist devotees perform rituals and offerings. The stupa's serene atmosphere and historical significance make it a key attraction for visitors exploring the ancient city of Anuradhapura.
